Life Goes On: A Poem by Lakshmi Ajoy


The mundane chores of everyday life,
Are duties that bind us to perform until the afterlife.

The challenges that get thrown out at us,
Lasts as lessons that remain etched to uplift us.

The unsolved mysteries of yesteryears,
Remain a secret for us to ponder over the cheers and fears.

The bittersweet memories of our distant past,
Offers us a chance to rework at life until it lasts.

The luxuries and pleasures that we take pride in,
Are temporary fixtures to blow up our 'EGO'es within.

The people that (seem to) offer us a lifetime company,
Remain with us only on a temporary journey.

CHANGE remains our biggest constant,
Making and marking its presence felt at every moment.

Change Your I'm busy, stressed, depressed, unwell, tired or fearful
To I'm easy,  relaxed, happy, healthy, fresh and powerful.

For life goes on, life goes on...
Until we are gone and even after we are gone.

Born to doting parents on a chilly winter noon,  Grew up with four siblings, life was like a boon.   Then came an abrupt end to all my idle fooling,  Born again to lessons, as they started my schooling.  Thought had grown up, now that I was in college,  Born again to lectures, busy acquiring knowledge.  Got a job to my relief, set about to make a career,  Born again despite the whims of bosses every year.                    Married, now that I was grown up, happy to be released,  Born again, at my new home, with many to be pleased.  Then came my li'l Angel, happy the cycle had ended,  Born again as a parent, on us,  she wholly depended.  Finally put in my papers,  wanting to be an idyll,  Inner self, however, wanted my passion to unbridle.      Born again a writer, having found my Muse,  Loving it every bit, a life I got to choose. It looks just like 'ordinary' as the word is... No shiny wraps to cover its face... Simple as it looks, But every page has a hook for taking another look. Be gentle when you flip its page You'll find some imperfect perfect moments at every stage.. Don't skip a few... for it bores you... You might miss  my  accomplishments, tucked away neatly in a line or two...   They say, ' Life  is not a bed of roses'  You'll see... Some lines are full of agony and bruises... Turn the corners delicately... For some fragile smiles may try to slip through, impatiently... Every line that you have read... ..Is the truth I have always dread...
