Circle of life: A poem by Subhashchandra B. Adhav

Image
Life itself is a stunning miracle Even more awesome is its circle As for my life is concerned I’m at its centre I’m responsible for my life, my soul its sole mentor The circle is expanding entailing something electromagnetic Within this glorious circle I can have circles concentric My virtues, abilities, and mettle define my radius It decides diameter, perimeter, and circumference precious My grief, perseverance, continual work compels me to heave a sigh That fixes size, area, the shape of circle like a constant pie At some point of circumference, periphery or boundary I may start Segments of the arc will decide my circular part I may be tempted to choose emotional short cut along chord Still that may be in tune with my cordial cord This is life’s segmental partial vivid scene However, pre-birth and post-death life, who has seen? Some insects like butterfly have an amazing cycle of life As the old order changeth, we see twists and

Honesty: A poem by Bhargavi Ravindra

No legacy is as rich as honesty to leave behind No asset is as great as honesty that enriches the mind No voice is as powerful as honesty, your heart to guide No word is as meaningful as honesty to swell with pride. One who adheres to principle and facts is honest One who loves for-what-than-who-you are, is honest One who inspires to be fearless and upfront, is honest One who dares to raise voice against injustice, is honest In actions, words and dealings -be  clear and  transparent Corruption, bribery, flattery, and nepotism-be always against Greats endure pain to follow righteousness, however difficult On life’s tight walk, do not crave to strike rich without sweat. Win over lies, deceit, treachery with love, respect, and fair play Honesty is a jewel that shines-shines brighter, rest fades away Honesty is a bitter pill to gulp, gulp you must to lead the way Quality than Quantity of life matters most, at the end of the day. A child should be t

Power of word: A poem by Bhargavi Ravindra

Image
Words, big and small, of love and hate, are all around us Words are but pictures of our thoughts, they astound us Words in darkest of dark n brightest of bright surround us Words to unleash its power, its charisma, rightfully found us.* Words, tender, soft, honey-dipped win hearts - a trusted trick Words, harsh, arrogant venom spitting-a molten lava, hot brick Words, our ladder to fame and glory-our intellectual yardstick Words, our fall from grace and wisdom -ruin of culture and ethics. Words are, music, the beautiful song that letters sing  Words are, our cherished hope, the inspiration that life brings  Words are .the strong tools, a handy guide in all our dealings  Words are the roads, the avenues, that set world exploring. Words are a link from creating history to unfurl the mystery Words more often like a cradle swing us from joy to misery Words echos our ideas and thoughts and flow like poetry Words nurture our hopes, aspirations,dreams-we

When I look into my eyes...: A poem by Poonam Kanwal

Image
I see my mind through my eyes, into the mirror when  I peek, Those traitor eyes spill the beans, When words hibernate clammed within, The range of emotions witnessed are stories well written........ When anger scales my mind's cliff, A fiery volcano's molten blaze gets caged behind my lashes & lids,  Colour red splatters !!!!   On a personal quest, whilst riding high,   A twinkle in my eyes sends ripples of delight,  Parting my lips into a jubilant smile. When mauled by melancholy, my eyes brim with tears saline, Each drop carries a story of its descent, Sorrow, it is. A sudden surprise & my eyelids part,  To welcome a new visitor, appealing my heart,  Blinking & stoic stares turn into melodies beyond compare, my eyes sing. Ahhhh!!  love sights  my expectant eyes, There's no haste to turn off dreams, my closed eyes start to screen. My eyes speak volumes, a reflection of my thoughts, When I look into my eyes, I re

The beauty of simplicity: A poem by Poonam Kanwal

Image
The most basic form, That Relinquishes all complex norms,  Bared to the skeleton, With transparency at its helm,  Simplicity is easy to understand. Elementary in its approach, No complexities to decode, Unadulterated, raw and pure,  Detective's hoodie not needed for sure, Simplicity is comforting. Devoid of pseudo tricks, Cosmetic Layers gnawed & ripped,  The reality of "Just being", firmly bricked,  A sturdy mansion of trust built,  Simplicity is astoundingly Real.  No frills, yet a head turner, A Magnetic personality, that draws, Casting a spell, attention it claws, A Show Stopper's persona with blessings & flaws,  Simplicity is mesmerizing.

Power of Words: A poem by Vasumathi Arvind

Image
Words are pearls emanating from the heart, How you use them is an art. Words can be soft as snow Healing and alleviating your sorrow. Words can be sweet as honey, Lightening up hearts so many. Words can be colourful as a rainbow, Motivating you and keeping you on the go. Words can be clear and pure as a mountain stream, Igniting in you an inner glow like a sunbeam. Words can be music to your ears, Creating a melody that to your life can add years. Words can be straight as shooting stars, Easing relationships and avoiding spars. Words can be kind and loving, Bringing about harmony and happy living. Words can be gentle as a dove, Spreading peace, harmony, and love. Words are mighty, they are powerful, Using them with care can make the world around you wonderful.

Live in the Moment: A poem by Vasumathi Arvind

Image
Life is the rosy pink and orange rays of dawn, Sing with the birds and shed the yawn; For this colourful canvas will fade away As the sun goes up and brightens the day! Life is a dazzling, sunny day, and Soak in the warmth, skip and play. Enjoy the light, enjoy the sounds and sights Before you know, it will soon be night! Life is the first few raindrops touching the earth, Lift up your face, take in the fragrance with mirth. Throw out your arms and dance with abandon, Like you will never do or have never done! Life is the rainbow spanning the sky, Seven colors of happiness and hope, to come by. Revel in it and its breathtaking beauty , A moment of joy that will not last an eternity! Life is the silken gown , an adornment for a special occasion, Take it out and wear it now without hesitation! Tomorrow is another day yet to unfold, Make the most of today, without keeping anything on hold! Life is magical , life is mysterious! Each m

Dreams come true: A poem by Adi Adnan

Image
May my dreams come true upon the path! And, help me in adoring now, Thus much let me go You are the soul, who deemed  That my dreams would never come true; Upon the path suffused with tears ever dropped from the human eye, And have made a puddle before my feet  Yet, my longing is strong  What if the path is suffused with tears, I shall stand by them, I shall swab those tears, I shall undarken the path toward my destination  Illumine the notion with its burning blaze  That had been obscured a decade ago  O, God!my dreams upon thy path, Can I not be crowned in achieving ;  Can I not lull those eyes flooded with tears And are bereft of euphoria Can I not light up the candle, That can never get doused upon the path; O God!Give me some strength  To fetch the gush of prayers to make my dreams come true.

As a volunteer village drummer at Rotary Orchid: A poem by Grace Seetharaman

Image
The Circle of life, The infinite ring, Where it begins When shall it end, Who sings In between Who earned in the canteen? All of this turns to mere experiences,  ,some good some better with a jitter.  What we make of it, Is what really matters.  Age and size no bar, Life is an instrument to play, and each one is a star!  The silver oaks stand tall, A few may bend and  some may buckle.  The fact is, they are Where we shall be tomorrow.  Old age is a blessing, not all live to see  many beautiful sunrises, a spectrum of memories.  A handful of us break  the dawn, Playing  on these  vibrant village drums!  The drums echo, the ancient calls.. The  circle of life grows with every beat and fall. I am, is as we all are! What goes up, shall come around, to rotate the  Circle  of Life!

Word Power: A poem by Dr. Alok Kumar Ray

Image
During my dreamy college career I have heard the term Word Power  In any language words are powerful They make the language rich and resourceful Who has command  over vocabulary Obviously like the boss  rule  they literally I have heard the term bombastic word It's like a well furnished dazzling sword Oh, God! Like difficult sum it's very hard to internalize Yes, power of words we of course recognize It can bring flood in a dry river even in summer It can give solace to an issue less but ill-treated mother A fisherman can sell stale fish if he is a good speaker A leader can garner support from the mass if he  is an orator It's said, close your mouth if no one is interested Speak good so that your foe can hear you uninterrupted Hearsay charges  tidings but falls short to  ignite hatred If one is gutsy enough in keeping words bereft  of  afraid

Carpe Diem: A poem by Azucena Libiran Gonzales

Image
Do you remember the times you put things off Cram at the last minute, but time run out? Why not resolve now to start earlier Than suffer the pain of being sorry later? Action today, not tomorrow; Carpes Diem! It wouldn't do to tarry or to waste time Life is a forward course of action So step out of your comfort zone. Focus on what you want to accomplish each day With deeper commitment; the price you must be willing to pay Persist on completing the task at hand Never jump to the next undertaking, until it's done. When needed, be prompt to make adjustment or correction Give your action a clear purpose and direction Avoid aimless wandering; seize every opportunity Make no excuses; be ready to work willingly. Getting ready for the day is a simple rule But it is routinely required by many people To reach your dream, work for it every single day Carpe Diem!  Life's short, there's no day but today.

Carpe Diem: A poem by Julian Sujendran

Today is our's, is there a better way of saying it?   Seize the moment at your disposal, never procrastinate it.   Time and tide wait for no man, do everything that you can.   Revel in the moment, the next is redundant.   Opportunity knocks only once, grab the only chance.   There's never anything like now, let not your question be how?   It's offered on a platter, putting it off would be a disaster.   It's within your grasp, never let go that firm clasp.   The present is a reality, the future, uncertainty.   Look for the moment now, tomorrow may not come.   One step at a time, as long as it is fine.   The tasks set aside for the morrow,  could perhaps end up with sorrow.   The present is all we see, just set your hearts at glee.   The sun may rise at morn, but your life may be forlorn.   Just grab the opportunity now, who knows for how long?   It's a moment to rejoice, there's never another chance.   It's a folly to delay when you can rightly

You are not alone: A poem by Pratibha Shenoy

Image
I leaned my forehead against the window frame, thinking of all the rejection that I’d faced and was yet to face. How difficult life was! Then I heard that lazy non-builder of nests, the shy doppelganger of the raucous crow,  the winged songster, singing, “Mope not! You are not alone.” As I ambled along to the market, the scorching heat led  my thoughts in a strange direction: “Would anybody care if I  was in danger?” I wished I had a protector. And my eyes fell on the tall, multi-hued and handsome giant of Malagasy ancestry, standing beside the road, with outstretched arms, welcoming. I marveled at the vivid canopy, like an umbrella spread over me! I felt safe as I heard a murmur, “Fear not! You are not alone.” As I trudged home after a tiring day, in the dark of the night, I couldn’t see whither I was going. Why is there no one, thought I, to show me the way? All of a sudden, the path became crystal clear. I looked up and saw the chunk of light

Daffodils: A poem by Subhashchandra B Adhav

Image
Before arrival spring does aesthetic deals Through these alluring daffodils  Their swaying beauty no flowers can match Wayfarers' attention they do catch When spring is round the corner  Start appearing these tiny bloomers Trumpet shape, split cup-like shapes Their captivating beauty, my vision, it shapes Spring is coming, they do herald Harbingers they shine like a green emerald Varied hues of colors, but yellow is common most  Beautiful show, thousands they host Emanating Narcissus familial beauty, they dance with mirth To express it, I fail to  find words worth It is the vivid feast to my physical eye How I wish, I could have Wordsworth like an inward eye!  Their vast expanse is a beauty mesmerizing Its hypnotizing stance is really surprising   Thought  one day its beauty would be gone for good  It has the power to change the pensive mood into mood good!!

You are not alone: An article by Rakesh Chandra

"Being alone" is perhaps a great misnomer! It is a big illusion. Nobody on this earth can ever remain alone which is inhabited by millions of living beings. This vast ecosystem consists of flora, fauna, small insects, pests, oceanic ecosystem, and human beings. Every moment man is surrounded by more than one of these species. Moreover, man is a social animal. He prefers to live in a societal structure surrounded by fellow human beings. It is suggested by the sociologists that a human being cannot live alone.  Lastly, man is a thinking living being. He is gifted with a brain. He is always engrossed with some thought process, either serious or superficial. His mind is never free of ideas. Hence, no one can assume that he is alone. Solitude is good for mental health. But that is a process of cutting oneself from the onslaught of the multitude! Even in this stage also man is not alone. In fact, he is involved in the process of meeting with himself or the process of intros

You are not alone: A poem by Omar Ali

Image
Y ou are not alone and never can be Because your soul is always with you And wherever you go, God is with you And whatever you do the Angels watch over you..... No, you are not alone if you, we're of loving parents Who cannot forsake you, having cared for you And school friends who always remember you Just as the next door lass who simply admires you...... You are not alone when your ego clings to you  And your pride can never leave you alone As your ever faithful heart beats  inside you When your conscious mind tells you what to do.....  No, you are not alone with the state watching over you When the tax collector will ever be after you And problems cannot always set you free When thirst and Hunger cannot abandon you......  How can you be alone when birds sing for you  And your cats and dogs are always around you When now and then some mortal fear grips you That the person you love most can leave you!

Daffodils: A poem by Jayashree Bhattacharjee

I n springtime, rambling through the English countryside I admired the radiant fields that glowed with such pride With zealous steps as I climbed an upland meadow I was transfixed at the aura of a glorious show Stood tall a multitude of daffodils amidst the carpet green A curve of yellow, a blossoming delight, showcasing their mien They swayed in the breeze under the Greenwoods' shades Weren't those the flowers whose sudden enchantment led Persephone down into Hades? The trumpet-like flowers surrounded by petals, bent, bent low The lovechild of spring embedded me with sheen and glow Their souls slipped forth in fragrance so sweet How I wished they could tarry and not so soon fleet Looking at them I admired God and every eternal thing ' Beauty is truth, truth beauty ' was all that I could sing Through the dismal, dreary months of cold and gloom With hope wondrously sublime, they waited for their golden bloom On the sunkissed ground, I gazed at the be
