An ode to woman: A poem by Nazima Kachwalla

Image
How beautifully she sings during storms, The stronger the winds the sweeter her voice, Her under-toned faith against the howling breeze, Like a smiling rose amidst the thorns. She brings life to a deserted portal, Paints it with hues from her soul. And how patiently she sculpts, Fine humans from ordinary mortals. Yes! The architect, may not have built a grandeur Rome, But with love and undying commitment, Makes an ordinary walled house, A blissful heaven, to be called a home. Quietly with concern and care, Her lovely hands churn magic, As she puts at the table, her love, Delectable, flavoursome and so aromatic. A teacher, an accountant, a legal advisor, How many roles so dutifully she plays, A mother, a sister, a daughter, a wife, a friend, The Creators Eve, a woman, an enchanting blend.

Uphaar: A poem by Monika Kapur

Watch her taking the flight: A poem by Monika Kapur

Image
Watch her taking the flight As they let her fall on the ground  Her dreams noosed tightly, Her hopes, kept bound. Watch her taking the flight, As they nipped her in the bud, Never let her bloom in her mom’s womb Made it her grave instead . Watch her taking a flight  As she burned in your lust, Disfiguring her pretty features, Ruining her confidence, burying it in dust  Watch her taking the flight  As she walk past the staring eyes, Roving up and down her sacred soul, Brushing along her bust or thighs  Watch her taking the flight When the world burnt her wings  Like a phoenix see her rising from the ashes, Watch her reaching for horizon with a resilient swing.

The essence of being a woman: A poem by Heera Nawaz

Feminists rule the roost for they initiate peace and love the powerful species, the game changers and the fair gender, the ones who bring beauty and sparkle to our dull, drab world, and who despite possessing strength, are also soft and tender. Women seek validation in their varied overrated relationships, One should only view Sanjay’s  Padmaavat  in the movie scene to witness the strength, beauty & caliber of a sacrificial woman, who commits  jauhar  to save the honour of her being a Queen But, yet, on the sidelines, women consists not just of Padmavati, but of the thousands of discriminated women who suffer & die, the Nirbhayas who get assaulted, raped, tortured and tormented, my heart burning as I see these victims who break down and cry. Ranging between the two extremes of Padmavatis & Nirbhayas is seen exploitation in almost all walks of a woman’s life, whether it be at the highest hierarchy of power in profession or whether the

Enigma: A poem by Omar Nassar

Our lives are like an open book my dear Yet in love our passions remain always unclear Fluctuating between sweet and sour without tears We still dazzle and puzzle lending each other our ears! We both complain, explain and remain as one In our unique marriage oneness bright as the sun A bitter-sweet couple learning the ropes of life Through strife ever rife always a loving husband and wife! Swimming in the turbulent sea of matrimony Without being drowned by the spectres of monotony Where your hugging and my bragging are like twins United by jealousy full of spats where no one wins! From grins and sneers we have cultivated smiles That have in time helped us do our marriage miles A happy family with happy kids all up and hale And a born again teetotaler I have since abandoned ale! I find life an enigma and thank God I'm alive Full of drive in love with my wife and kids A survivor of Satanic emotions and ugly notions Which remain a mystery of life to a loving couple!

Marriage: A poem by Jayashree Bhattacherjee

Image
They travelled to the land of wedding bonanza Tied the golden knot amidst celebrations and extravaganza Garbed in bridal attires, they exchanged garlands, went round the fire seven times With a promise, a potential , to remain together throughout their lives With excitement, joys and fears, they started a new life They felt it rewarding to be a joyful husband and a blissful wife They did not know what their future would hold Yet they vowed to stay strong together even after they grew old As lotus lives in water,so did they live in each other With passionate embraces, tender kisses, love's labour shone brighter The creeper of love planted, it grew and spread all over In companionship they walked the extra miles, alone they could never cover Life indeed  was not always a fairy tale It was not always very hearty and hale Life did hand them challenges as it does to one and all Their marital bond held them steady and never let them fall Their wedlock must have be

All you can think about is you: A poem by Saumya Lakhera

Image
All you can think about is you, From the muddy earth to the heavenly drops of dew. You are the part of the cosmos and the world is your stage, Your life is like a book and each day makes a glorious page, You belong to yourself and your inner light shines, Your body is a temple and your soul a holy shrine. Your eyes carry the shine of the stars and sunshine, You are a great cosmic element which surpasses every border and line. Love your body and soul as they make you complete, You are a feirceless spirit away from defeat.

Earnest Longings: A poem by Mir Samsul Haque

Image
A spate of lovelorn lines whirring in my rambling mind Yet, I'm nursing no inhibitions to my eerie inebriation As you've notched up your entrancing halo, worthwhile Your superb spell suffusing all niches of my meandering mind I weave eloquent phrases to paraphrase your elusive beauty Crafting curiously musky melodies and singing them with elan Still,my heart is inherently longing to your abrupt intrusion The spark of love removes rues as all I can think about is you Withholding plethora of pearly promises, sincerely I sigh Amid dithering daze my hyped happiness never gets smashed Though my exuberant ecstasy is unhinged from the realm of reality I'm stymied at once, being ensnared to your enchanting legacy Each endearing story is recounted with fits of rapture How we've celebrated comely hours with collective joy Each memory is rehashed, recycled with much fervour O' cherubic beauty I'm facing bravely the brutal world's notoriety Our mesmerised mu

All I can think about is You: A poem by Dr. Molly Joseph

this noon, this hot noon, all I can think about is you... now when I feel so vague,  to kill the dull eve  that creeps in, a snake devious in its ways through dried leaves searching for a space cool,  secure..  All I can think about is You.. Someone has put on an old nostalgic number..  the music floats..  how bright were those noons when we sat near the river looking deep into to each  other's eyes, weaving out dreams of future... life was fun, offering surprises, each day dawned with promises new.. Now, silence weighs us  down, the thick snow capping, covering.. separation  grows dismal, the patched earth awaiting the slender touch of a rain that refuses to fall.. this noon, this hot noon all I can think about is you...
