Joy of charity…: A poem by Sheela S. Iyer

Image
Charity a beautiful thought that comes from within Do a good cause and hearts you can win. Every soul on this planet has the right to live Engage yourself in charity and joyfully give. Joy and happiness will embrace you So what, if only little you could do. Do not compare and measure when it comes to charity What matters is your heart's purity. Every now and then we hear about natural calamities Lend your hand for charity and show some humanity. Adopting a girl child and giving best is one of the finest charities Your inner peace will be twofold and you will find a path with clarity. When one candle can light many candles and make the place bright, One step of charity can motivate many hands, turning the place into a beautiful sight. Donating some time for a good cause is also a way of charity Elevating lives and bringing some smile is the religion of humanity. Set an example by donating to those who are in pain and need Take a lead and

Live fearlessly…: A poem by Sheela S. Iyer

Image
The more you are afraid of something, the more you get entangled Things will turn worse and be difficult to handle. Lead a life that is fearless Parade, as if moving in life is Limitless. Nurture your inner strength and make it strong Why worry when you are not wrong? Once you wear a mask of fear, Your strength will just disappear. Crush your fear and never allow it to conquer your mind Be brave, leave your fear behind and let your personality be defined. Say what you have to say Do not gulp and be afraid. Some fear is genuine and some are self-created Dismantle the box where fear is situated. Fear reveals weakness of the inner self Just be too strong for fear and enrich yourself. Fear will take you to the path where defeat is waiting Fear will drain away your thought process, making life frustrating. Live fearlessly, the only way to cherish life Live fearlessly with grace and full of life. When the voice of fear is loud, The rhyth

Family: A poem by Nazima Kachwalla

Image
God gave each of us a special family, That we can call our own, A family that loves us for who we are, So we would never feel alone. They may not like everything we do, Or everything we say, But the beautiful thing about a "family", Is that they love us anyway. Sometimes we feel rejected, By people who do not care, But our hearts are warmed by remembering, That our family is always there. So hug them a little more often, for sometimes we hurt the ones we love. And tell them how much you love them, For they were sent to you from above.

Peeping into the bioscope               whenever it's showing                excited kids who love                      the thrilling fun...           With parents by their sides              the kids joyfully scream              enjoying a holiday treat              with yummy ice-cream...                       Ever so happy               enjoying a village show              where operators shrewd                 avoid all scenes lewd...             As the kids' imaginations                             escape          with every thrilling landscape           of lovely scenes of big cities           and villages in rainbow hues...         Baboons and buffoons swing          and dance while parrots sing          from whence memory clings       of fairies and Angels with wings...           And it's a lucrative business          that offers great happiness              to joyful kids who relax             without T. Widowed Trees: A poem by Nisha Tandon

Image
I stop short in my steps on my morning walk And trace the faint shadow of the tree in a glance The widowed branches upon it enchant me Celebrating solitude in deep silence and a perfect stance The eerie silence amidst unfrequent winds haunt me The barren tree is forsaken and feels betrayed today Abandoned by ornaments that once bedecked  its boughs The withered fronds have slowly blown away The cotton clouds make a perfect backdrop A solitary bird perched on a branch, perhaps reminiscing Sunbeams randomly sieve through the netted branches Peering mischievously and rhythmically dancing A wave of sympathy engulfs me As I see the tree stand vulnerable and alone No companion to share its forgotten tales with Forlorn and to strangers alas baring its soul The pride has befallen with each passing season This mighty giant was once in its full glory Yet it stands strong, being an inspiration This mesmerizing and enigmatic naked tree

Family: A poem by Bhargavi Ravindra

Oh, Family! dear family ...........What are we without thee? You are the root, nurturing strong branches of a human tree. A long stressful frustrating day, tired bones, chilling weather It warms your heart to see your family waiting, as you enter. Home is where the heart is, and the heart is where the family is  Your heaven on earth, your undisputed kingdom, what a bliss. Human beings, with deep-rooted family ties, are truly blessed Stick with you come sunshine or rain - undeterred, unbiased. Genuine love, care, and concern, family bonding helms from  Against the tide you dare to swim, upfront you brave the storm. A strong family behind you, a support system as solid as a rock A rainbow in a bleak morning, amidst thorns a dancing peacock! Social animals we, Survival in isolation is well nigh impossible Concept of the family is like blood in our veins from time immemorial. In the twilight of life, the dust settled long after heart’s outpouri

Bioscope: A poem by Bhargavi Ravindra

The curtains were pulled down, windows were shut. In the ensuing darkness, kids waited, with the bated breath. A thin beam of light found its way onto the screen  In the path of the light, dust particles shining, could be seen. The teacher explained: when light falls on things, it shines Lest children think of it as something divine. In hushed tones, ruffled voices they all spoke The excitement was mounting at every stroke. The joy was unmatched; every second gaining momentum Set to watch figures moving, cars chasing in the school auditorium. Viewing of moving figures on the screen held them spellbound The deafening screams of joy was a thrill, like being on a Merry-go-round. Long after the curtains were pulled up and the doors opened Their joy, their laughter, their chatter echoed. An early form of the motion picture, an early film projector Found its way in textbooks, an invention immensely and hugely popular. A Greek word    Bio+scope meant “Life

Remnants of desire : A poem by Nisha Tandon

Image
A subtle fire burned within them  All draped passionately in the embering coal, The light that shone within deliberately manifested  As if at last they had met their own true soul Every wordless emotion was felt profoundly  She didn’t need to speak a single word  As he looked deep into her pristine eyes  He understood every silence of hers  Their union blossomed an unfathomable dream Her fervency fiery red and his passion as enkindled coal  Tonight the silvery moonbeams  did scintillate Some precious moments as two lovers stole  A gentle breeze ruffled the quiescent leaves  An intoxicating melody ignited an invincible desire  No boundaries there were that were left uncrossed  As two insatiable souls were set on tempestuous fire  They perish tonight till they meet again  When like always the destiny conspires  They melt away into oblivion with remnants of ashes Their journey complete as they culminate their desires These special moment

Humility: A poem by Kishor Kumar Mishra

Image
Life is a game of snakes and ladders We all carry on with ups and downs. Straight path somewhere, curvy somewhere Criss-cross roads encountered here and there.   Arrogance, pride are all negativity Never sustain long, fall prey to time. Simplicity and Humility are great virtues Life will be easier when we cling to these. Humility is a sign of all learned people Great are those who remain humble. Quit your arrogance, stay humble Earn His blessings by making life simple.

Home is where the heart is: An article by Jayashree Bhattacherjee

Image
It was J. H.Payne who composed and sang "Home sweet home, There is no place like home" when he himself had no home, no roof above his head to give him shelter and protection. The home literally means a construction which one builds for shelter and protection. In modern time the term 'home' has much deeper connotation than walls and roof. The great sentiment is attached to it. "Home is where the heart is ". A man carefully and painstakingly builds his home to establish his happiness there with his near and dear ones. Home now means much more than a residential place. It means a place of warmth and comfort, a place that the heart cherishes forever. As Anton Chekhov puts it, 'At home one has to do with people whom one unreasonably loves, and love is exacting.... '. At home, one gets all the physical and mental comfort needed, all the warmth, love and affection. Home does not necessarily mean just four walls and a roof. It can be any affordable place b

Self-centred: A poem by Mir Samsul Haque

Image
As one is turning on his own axis If at all wisdom gets concealed And conscience is at a new low Inflated ego takes a toll Self-centred trait hits hard It throws back one into whirrs To keep moving One needs humility When lips suppurate with Prayers to Almighty When self-centred trait Is left at backyard One basks in glory till eternity One recounts many mellow mornings Productive to the core Nothing is to be worried about A radiant soul rhymes amen Sublimity all pervading He's then a sensible soul Not a cursed self- centred lot

Ofttimes I hear my heart humming The hymns of familiar familial grace Being bonded to cordiality boundless Home - a delightful den where I dwell In the jaws of calamities, I securely smile Hardly have I groaned in comatose pain A touch of grace swaps my bundles of sorrows My home houses bliss for a splendid tomorrow I feel connected to home wherever I stay In array of things, amid myriads possibilities My home is undoubtedly the mainstay My home is a hive that nullifies all uncanny When I sense the wobbly world at rage My home shields me from looming rues In afar land my heart longs for homecoming In the welter of autumn, I see supple spring My heart hypes for abundant ethereal charms I'm fully subsumed by the cloak of love It's aptly said "Home is where heart is“ A gospel truth that I utterly believe.

Family, my anchor!: A poem by Nisha Tandon

Image
A book of life I lift from my memories And slowly turn each page with a lot of care No set rules I see, no disciplinary actions  But abundance of love and faith that was always there  A few happy moments or be it times tough  We sailed steadily through deep hurt and despair  We held on to each other like there was no ‘morrow  Every single emotion we were forever ready to share  Some carefree laughter and mischief aplenty  Brought in sunshine to our lives that were otherwise sombre  Despite the hindrances and hitches at many stages of life  As a family, we always came out of it much stronger  We celebrated little moments, we wiped away tears We even walked away from each other in a fit of rage We laughed over this just the very next moment  To many others it may all sound so very strange  A precious bond, a gift of God Glittering in life like brilliant amber  Through life’s many storms and dreams unfulfilled Family has been my infallible anchor.

Waqt waqt ki baat hai: A poem by Sheela S. Iyer
