Life is a journey: A poem by Goutam Dutta

A soul finds an empty body
And is tasked to use it as a vehicle.
For a new journey
Through a span of time,
Lasting a few scores or Maybe more.
A journey-
Of crests and troughs,
Of sailing and soaring,
Of stops and starts,
Of passing through the dark,
Sometimes in company
At times alone.
Is this journey a destiny?
Driven by an invisible force?
Or does one have the power to steer
The course by sheer will force?
Who decides the co-passengers?
The station where it will terminate?
Who decides the costs and expenses
That those on this journey have to bear?
