Asian Literary Society’s 3rd Asian Literary Confluence 2020

 

The Asian Literary Society organized the 3rd Asian Literary Confluence with great fanfare on 23rd October 2020.

 

Ms. Meenakshi Natarajan (Eminent Author and Former Member of Parliament) delivered the inaugural address. In light of the present Covid-19 scenario, this meeting was conducted online. Interactive sessions with Dr. Pariksith Singh (Eminent Poet and Founder, Access Health Care Physicians, USA) and Mr. Sudarshan Kcherry (CEO, Authorspress) followed.

 

Mr. Manoj Krishnan (Author and Founder, Asian Literary Society) delivered his keynote address touching upon the new initiatives and the innovative programs conducted by ALS during the past year. He also announced the names of the winners of the Annual 2020 Wordsmith Awards, Sagar Memorial Award, Gitesh Biva Memorial Award, and the Photography Contest. A session on Poetry Recitations was conducted in which over 25 poets from India and abroad participated. This session drew a lot of interest from all the members.

 

During the evening sessions, viewers had a literary banquet served before them through illuminating panel discussions in which distinguished personalities in the fields of Literature and Arts participated.

 

Dr. Amarendra Khatua (Former Secretary, MEA), Mr. Kumar Vikram (Editor, National Book Trust), and Mr. A. J. Thomas (Guest Editor, Sahitya Akademi) shared their thoughts on How to Popularize Asian Literature in India. Renowned Hindi poets, Dr. Om Nischal and Dr. Laxmi Shankar Bajpai shared their thoughts on the Changing Face of Hindi Literature in the Era of Social Media.

 

Mr. Yuyutsu Sharma (Eminent Poet, Nepal), Ms. Santhini Govindan (Eminent writer) and Ms. Mandira Ghosh (Treasurer, Poetry Society, India) were the panelists in the discussion on Feminism in Modern English Literature. Eminent writers Ms. Amrita Bhalla, Ms. Bina Pillai, and Ms. Meena Mishra participated the panel discussion on South Asian Literature and Indian Cinema.

 

Eminent Hindi poets Ms. Mamta Kiren, Ms. Renu Hussain, and famous author, Dr. Kamal Kumar shared their thoughts on Hindi Language and Literature on the World Stage. Noted artist Ms. Lippi Parida and famous Photographer Mr. Rohit Suri shared interesting tips on The Art of Photography to acquaint enthusiasts with this very popular topic.

 

The sessions were moderated by Ms. Anita Chand (Administrator, ALS), Dr. Aparna Bagwe (Administrator, ALS), Ms. Kiren Babal (Ambassador, ALS), Dr. Swasti Dhar (Associate Editor, JAACL), Ms. Nisha Tandon (Author & Poet), and Ms. Poonam Kanwal (Author & Poet).

 

It was heartening to note the warm, positive response to the Asian Literary Society's 3rd Asian Literary Confluence 2020 from all the invitees, participants, and audience members.

एशियन लिटरेरी सोसाइटी द्वारा तृतीय एशियन लिटरेरी कंफ्लुएंस 2020 का सफल आयोजन, जानी-मानी हस्तियों ने की शिरकत

एशियन लिटरेरी सोसाइटी ने 23 अक्टूबर 2020 को बड़ी धूमधाम से तृतीय एशियन लिटरेरी कंफ्लुएंस का आयोजन किया। 

मुख्य अतिथि सुश्री मीनाक्षी नटराजन (प्रख्यात लेखिका और पूर्व संसद सदस्या) ने कार्यक्रम का उद्घाटन किया। श्री मनोज कृष्णन (लेखक और संस्थापक, एशियन लिटरेरी सोसाइटी) ने 2020  के दौरान संस्था द्वारा किए गए कार्यक्रमों की जानकारी दी। उन्होंने वार्षिक वर्डस्मिथ अवार्ड्स, सागर मेमोरियल अवार्ड, गीतेश बिवा मेमोरियल अवार्ड और फ़ोटोग्राफ़ी प्रतियोगिता के विजेताओं के नामों की भी घोषणा की। इस अवसर पर डॉ. परीक्षित सिंह (प्रख्यात कवि और संस्थापक, एक्सेस हेल्थ केयर फिजिशियन, यूएसए) और श्री सुदर्शन कचेरी (सीईओ, ऑथर्सप्रेस) के साथ श्रोताओं को रु-ब-रु होने का मौका मिला। इस सम्मलेन में  कविता पाठ के एक सत्र भी आयोजित किया गया जिसमें देश-विदेश के 25 से अधिक कवियों ने अपनी कविताएँ प्रस्तुत की।  

शाम के सत्रों के दौरान साहित्य और कला के क्षेत्र के कई हस्तियों ने भाग लिया। डॉ. अमरेन्द्र खटुआ (पूर्व सचिव, एमईए), श्री कुमार विक्रम (संपादक, नेशनल बुक ट्रस्ट), और डॉ. ए .जे. थॉमस (अतिथि संपादक, साहित्य अकादमी) ने भारत में एशियाई साहित्य को लोकप्रिय बनाने के बारे में अपने विचार व्यक्त किए। प्रख्यात हिंदी कवि डॉ. ओम निश्चल और डॉ. लक्ष्मी शंकर बाजपेयी ने सोशल मीडिया के युग में हिंदी साहित्य के बदलते स्वरुप विषय पर श्रोताओं को सम्बोधित किया ।  

मॉडर्न इंग्लिश लिटरेचर में फेमिज्म पर हुई चर्चा में श्री युयुत्सु शर्मा (प्रख्यात कवि, नेपाल), सुश्री संथिनी गोविंदन (प्रख्यात लेखिका) और सुश्री मंदिरा घोष (कोषाध्यक्ष, कविता सोसाइटी, इंडिया) पैनलिस्ट थीं। जानी-मानी लेखिकाएं सुश्री अमृता भल्ला, सुश्री बीना पिल्लई और सुश्री मीना मिश्रा ने दक्षिण एशियाई साहित्य और भारतीय सिनेमा पर हुई चर्चा में भाग लिया।

मशहूर हिंदी कवयित्री सुश्री ममता किरण, सुश्री रेणु हुसैन और सुप्रसिद्ध लेखिका डॉ. कमल कुमार ने हिंदी भाषा और साहित्य पर अपने विचार व्यक्त किए। जानी-मानी कलाकार सुश्री लिप्पी परीदा और मशहूर फ़ोटोग्राफ़र श्री रोहित सूरी ने  "द आर्ट ऑफ़ फ़ोटोग्राफ़ी" जैसे दिलचस्प विषय पर कलाप्रेमियों को सम्बोधित किया।  

सम्मलेन के इन सत्रों का संचालन सुश्री अनिता चंद (प्रशासिका, एएलएस), डॉ. अपर्णा बागवे (प्रशासिका, एएलएस), सुश्री किरण बाबल (राजदूत, एएलएस),  डॉ. स्वास्ति धर (सम्पादिका, जेएएसीएल), सुश्री निशा टंडन (लेखिका एवं कवयित्री), और सुश्री पूनम कंवल (लेखिका एवं कवयित्री) ने किया।  

कोरोनावायरस महामारी के मद्देनज़र  इस बार यह वार्षिक सम्मलेन ऑनलाइन आयोजित की गई थी जिसे  सभी प्रतिभागियों और दर्शकों से बेहद सकारात्मक प्रतिक्रिया मिली।

You left to accomplish your onus to the nation with pride Leaving behind your aroma and love for the new bride. The orange ball rises, piercing the dark skies But she awaits your return, with those dusky brown eyes The taste of your last touch, on her fervent lips, The warmth of your arms sank her in petrichloral dips.
