Bioscope: A poem by Bhargavi Ravindra

The curtains were pulled down, windows were shut.
In the ensuing darkness, kids waited, with the bated breath.
A thin beam of light found its way onto the screen
In the path of the light, dust particles shining, could be seen.
The teacher explained: when light falls on things, it shines
Lest children think of it as something divine.
In hushed tones, ruffled voices they all spoke
The excitement was mounting at every stroke.
The joy was unmatched; every second gaining momentum
Set to watch figures moving, cars chasing in the school auditorium.
Viewing of moving figures on the screen held them spellbound
The deafening screams of joy was a thrill, like being on a Merry-go-round.
Long after the curtains were pulled up and the doors opened
Their joy, their laughter, their chatter echoed.
An early form of the motion picture, an early film projector
Found its way in textbooks, an invention immensely and hugely popular.
A Greek word  Bio+scope meant “Life to Look “ at
“A  view or survey of Life “traditionally it was defined best.
Now in our living rooms, we watch  life moving  at jet speed
One of the greatest invention, marvels of technology indeed!
The Bioscope; Its impact immense has brought a great revolution
Explored wider avenues, scaled newer heights with the progress of civilization!
In many parts of the word for cinema is still Bioscope
Charles Urban’s first made Bioscope laid a platform to nurture all our dreams, all our hopes!
