Dewdrops: A poem by Sahjahan Ali Ahmed

Dewdrops drop, drop by drop
From veils of the wintry morning,
And hang on to leaves of grass
As pearls of a queen's earring.

At the caress of the soft sweet sun
In delight  like gold, they glitter,
As in night sky around the moon
Twinkle a million bright star.

Morning grows into noon soon.
Drop by drop, drops on the ground
Dewdrops, as beads from a torn
Rosary, never again to be found.

Life's a dewdrop on an arum leaf.
While life vibrates as violin's string
If dropped, like dropped dewdrop,
Vanishes like vapor, never seen.

Roses grow even in the deadly desert,
Drinking dewdrops ere they vanish .
Make life like sparkling dewdrops,
Ere as dropped dewdrop it finishes.
