Red: A poem by Gomathi Mohan

Image
Red Riding Hood and the wicked wolf's fairytale, Santa Claus in candy apple suit, hearty and hale. Raspberry, strawberry apple, cherry, glowing in red like none, Painted and tainted among all colors,  though the most potent one. Carnelian stopper in signals when all we want is to run, Flagging scarlet red before the bull, for heaven's sake, is no fun. Vermilion dot on the forehead, she subtly announces being wed,  Also chooses to wear ornaments with the ruby in them embed. Green paan turns rich in carmine so fresh and robust,   Same turn to ugly brick red when spat on to dust. Imperial red carpet rolled out for a VIP's airs and ornery, While in satin ladybug, bride gleams in all her marriage finery. Velvety petals of red rose sought in bath for solace, Bouquet for teacher beautifully arranged with coral red gladiolus.   Drastic downfall from auspicious to an abominable Red Light,   Re...

Red: A poem by Geethanjali Dilip

Image
Infrared rays permeating within the soul as angst, In a mute scream whose echoes go unheard under molesting gangs, Rad alert of mob fury answering corrupt fangs, As bloody teardrops drip down Mother justice, her resignation hangs, The burning red of poverty that stokes the gut, Burning to cinders in famished stomachs of children’s huts, As selfish smoke rings spiral mocking at breath in a cigarette butt, Red is the pigment of monstrous apathy in a demonic rut. Love bites that leave scars that don’t hurt anymore, Heart chambers breeding memories of yore, Stains in patterns on palms as henna their color pour, Red soil that line Kolams for auspices outside the door. Red is a taste that looks for answers, Red the rose petals that wither from Valentines leaving fragrant banters, Red is the line of the earth and sky in love’s whispers, Red soaks the tongue as betel leaves the alerts colors, Red is death that spreads to end all the pain in terminal ca...

Sky paints with colorful rainbow  Red is a bright striking color  Brighten up the clear blue sky Hot red bond of affection on my mind Bed scattered with red rose petals  Sweet fragrance enticing romantic lovers The precious moment together a pleasure  Passion flows swiftly like a river Red cherry sweet and juicy Fresh fruit juice is healthy   Quenching thirst in hot summer day Enduring the scorching sun rays Fine dine celebration in candlelight  Complete with glasses of red wine Cheers, rejoice in jubilation  Toss and rise to the occasion  Red a warning to alert danger Be cautious to face the future  Move your steps with determination  Confidence determines achievement.

Red Lotus: An article by Khushboo Yadav

Image
According to legend, everywhere the baby Buddha stepped, a lotus flower bloomed. Since the lotus grows in muddy water, it symbolizes the purity of the enlightened mind arising amidst the suffering of samsara. In Buddhism, the Red Lotus is related to the heart, and it is the symbol of Love and Compassion. Buddha spread the message of Love and Compassion to the world. He abolished the discrimination between the rich and the poor and high and low. The Red Lotus is a symbol of purity of heart. It stands for a heart that is full of love and compassion and passion. Buddha said, "Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love, this is the eternal law." Red symbolizes lifeforce, preservation, fire and sacred things or places. Humanity needs love and Compassion. Men wage war for petty things. Thousands of innocent are killed in this heinous war. Waging a war people can win a country or state, but peace of mind is lost.Hearts can be won by only love and Compassion. On...

Khwaahishein: A poem by Krishna Kumari
