The pandemic : An appeal to stay Home: A poem by Lalita Vaitheeswaran

Image
With mask, gloves and Protective gears  Amidst disease and dying fears He stayed firm like a rock Appealing society to be locked He didn't have the option to stay back Resting at home was the choice he lacked He was the provider of healthcare Having the grit, will and lions dare! He touched them, while they coughed on his face He held them with love and didn't disgrace  Hundreds and thousands the count went on While he cared for them from dusk to dawn He sneezed and then coughed his breathing labored His life dangled and on a thin line wavered He continued to fight the war of   his life While many others were cured the news was rife Today was his funeral no one to attend They said it's a Pandemic..and isolation is the trend !!

The pandemic: A poem by Jayashree Bhattacherjee

Dumbfounded, panic-stricken, I muse, "The world is too much with us" Frankenstein-like hideous monster, although invisible, is threatening the world - it's the Corona Virus The colossal suffering, death, the pandemic, to the  world has brought such a doom Sad and weary, every heart is crushed with grief and gloom In isolation, my bleeding heart takes refuge in  the softness of my child Affection drizzling, a teardrop roll down my cheek in the dark night I am on immunosuppressants, I lack immunity Medicating on powerful drugs, to illness I've more vulnerability Several symptoms like coughing and sneezing are highly infectious If I fall a victim, it'll be so disastrous Now my heart flutters as dusk approaches, my soul shivers at dawn Will peace come, will I see smiles again on the faces of my own? In this time of crises, I seek solace in books and poetry That only reduces my fear, calms my rage and creates a sanctuary I turn restless ...

The accident: A poem by Nisha Tandon

Sighing, she stared at the empty cradle by her bed On which neither blue nor any pink sheet was spread Colorless linen upon it as the attendant skeptically lay To an infinite world, her rainbow tinted dreams faded away Despite the tragedy, she kept that tranquil calm To heal her insensate soul there was no soothing balm Never would she forgive herself for that fateful night It was impossible to rid her senses of that tragic sight Notwithstanding the prevalent superstition, she had acceded to a baby shower Her friends ceremoniously celebrated till the peak of the dawn’s hours She staggered and stumbled down steep wooden stairs As she writhed in pain, it was a harrowing nightmare The blood pooling around her left her aghast She knew the prenate had finally breathed it’s last In disbelief, she watched as down her spine ran a chill The world stopped in its tracks and time stood still. Was there a way to heal the disfigured scar that was left? Was it merely an accident or her destiny, as ...

The pandemic: A poem by Dr. Meeta Vijaya Benipuri

Preview of pandemic presents, provision to perceive, perseverance to practice, prohibition from prejudice, panacea from pain and purpose to pray together. Resonance of retrospection, restore a reason to radiate, responsibility to rewrite, realizations  to review, reverence to respect and reflection to reach out. Questions of quarantine, gives quiet moments to ponder, quiz the questionable quality, quench the unanswered queries, quit bad habits to qualify and quantify the quality quotient. A quick self-quarantine from all negativity is needed, before the planet quivers in the queerest form.

The accident: A story by Supriya Bansal

The narrow road was dark and desolate. The rain had incessantly been falling all evening and had only gotten worse. She usually avoided the street unless she was in a rush. Cursing herself under her breath, she tried to navigate her way through.      She shouldn’t have ventured out on such a night, she thought. All this just to impress her husband’s boss who was coming for dinner to their house that night. Her husband owed her one for this. The sound of howling wind and furious raindrops pelting on her windscreen broke her reverie. The only sound disrupting the otherwise malevolent emptiness.   She hadn’t seen him coming.  It was as if he had emerged from the darkness, his form outlined by the brilliant shine of the headlights. Braking didn’t help, the car just glided over the surface of water hitting him hard. She was flung forwards while he was lifted by the impact and was thrown on to the windscreen, his face, only inches away fro...

Hope: A poem by Nisha Tandon

Image
Swallows, symbolize hope as they gyrate and playfully swirl Their litheness leaves minds of mortals in a constant whirl Celestial harbingers who portend the advent of spring Perched on a leafless branch they melodiously sing As cold dark days of winter transform in the bright spring sun Flowers that bloom symbolize the hope of good things to come As we try to vanquish the indolence of days bygone Nascent sunlight emerges languidly, promising of a new dawn An anchor, a symbol of undying hope and steadfastness Letting go of tumultuous past for new dreams that lie ahead  When lifted from the sea and set sail on an adventure new It confronts storms but remains stable till the voyage is through A candle burns majestically in the darkest of nights Its wick weeps silently as with melting wax it reunites When a blanket of melancholy in life seems to envelop The flickering flame whispers softly to me not to lose hope Hope is alive, a promise that needs time to surface A miracle one anticip...

Fuel the fire within: A poem by Rohini Jayanti

Life confronted me with adversities making me a victim of heinous violence the external fire scorched me with flaming patchworks of fear and grief negativity smeared all around my life emitting black smoke that choked me I feel crumbled in its presence with a feeling of exasperation deep within the rampaging flames from the surroundings devoured my positivity like a famished beast I became amputated physically and mentally and remained a spectator as it burned the darkest hours of my life defined me at my core a thirst for freedom a quest for transformation began I ignited the flame of hope and fueled the fire within the perseverance became an inferno and engulfed my soul the warrior in me awoke and rekindled my inner spirit I never looked back and never bowed against the odds and moved on in life with a new beginning
