Press Release: 150 years of The Mahatma: A Poetic Celebration

Asian Literary Society is a literary community founded by a gifted writer Mr. Manoj Krishnan with the mission to spread awareness about Asian Literature all over the world. This group endeavors to foster and nurture the reading and writing culture among its seventeen thousand members from more than a hundred countries and provide them, an excellent platform to showcase their creativity.

Asian Literary Society organized "150 years of The Mahatma: A Poetic Celebration Program" on January 10th, 2019  at the India International Center, New Delhi. The celebration started with the welcome address by Founder, Manoj Krishnan. It was followed by lamp lightening ceremony and recitation of Gandhi's favorite bhajan Vaishnava Jana to Tene Kahiye.

Jnanpith award and Sahitya Akademi Award winner,  Padma Bhushan Dr. Satya Vrat Shastri was the chief guest of the event who held the audience spellbound with his speech. Padma Shri Dr. Shyam Singh Shashi (social scientist, Academic, and writer) and Dr. Tarachand  Pal 'Bekal' (an illustrious writer and poet) addressed the audience on the relevance of Gandhian principles in today's world.

Former secretary MEA,  Mr. Amarendra Khatua, President Sakhshi NGO and, Dr. Mridula Tandon, Former principal of Kamala Nehru college, Dr. Rita Malhotra, eminent writer Kiren Babal and CEO, Author press, Mr. Sudarshan Kcherry also shared their thoughts.

It was followed by the fervent recitation by poets who won the heart of the audience. Prominent poets Ms. Bushra Alvi Razzack, Ms. Lippi Parida, Ms. Ruchika Rastogi, Ms. Anita Chand, Ms. Vandana Bhasin, Dr. Bishakha Sarma, Ms. Trina Chakraborti, Ms. Ramniet S Mukherjee, Amritjyoti Mahanta, and Jagriti Sharma recited their soulful verses. Later they were felicitated by the esteemed luminaries. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and presentation of token of gratitude to all.

Mahatma's 150th birth anniversary celebration hosted by Asian Literary Society gave the participants and audience an opportunity to remember the efficacy of Gandhian thoughts based on truth and nonviolence.

महात्मा के 150 साल: एक काव्य समारोह

एशियन लिटरेरी सोसाइटी, एक साहित्यिक समुदाय है, जिसकी स्थापना, लेखक श्री मनोज कृष्णन ने, पूरे विश्व में एशियाई साहित्य के बारे में, जागरूकता फैलाने के लिए की है। यह समूह सौ से अधिक देशों के सत्रह हजार सदस्यों को, अपना लेखन प्रस्तुत के लिए एक उत्कृष्ट मंच प्रदान करता है।

एशियन लिटरेरी सोसाइटी ने 10 जनवरी, 2019 को, इंडिया इंटरनेशनल सेंटर, नई दिल्ली में "महात्मा  के 150 वर्ष: एक काव्य समारोह कार्यक्रम" का आयोजन किया। समारोह की शुरुआत संस्थापक मनोज कृष्णन के स्वागत भाषण के साथ हुआ। इसके बाद दीप प्रज्ज्वलन समारोह और गांधी के पसंदीदा भजन,’ वैष्णव जन ते तेने कहिये…’ पाठ से किया गया।

ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार और साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार विजेता, पद्म भूषण डॉ० सत्य व्रत शास्त्री, इस कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि थे। उन्होंने अपने भाषण से दर्शकों को मंत्रमुग्ध कर दिया। पद्म श्री डॉ. श्याम सिंह शशि (सामाजिक वैज्ञानिक एवं लेखक) एवं डॉ. ताराचंद  पाल "बेकल" (प्रसिद्ध कवि एवं लेखक) ने दर्शकों को गांधीवादी सिद्धांतों के प्रासंगिक विषय पर संबोधित किया।

पूर्व सचिव, एम. ई. ए, श्री अमरेन्द्र खटुआ, साक्षी एनजीओ की अध्यक्षा डॉ. मृदुला टंडन, कमला नेहरू कॉलेज की पूर्व प्राचार्या डॉ. रीता मल्होत्रा, प्रख्यात लेखिका किरण बाबल और ऑथर्स प्रेस के सीईओ, श्री सुदर्शन केचरी ने भी अपने विचार प्रस्तुत किए।

इसके बाद सुश्री बुशरा अल्वी रज्जाक, सुश्री लिप्पी परीदा, सुश्री रुचिका रस्तोगी, सुश्री अनिता चंद, सुश्री वंदना भसीन, डॉ. बिशाखा सरमा, सुश्री त्रिना चक्रवर्ती, सुश्री रमनीत एस मुखर्जी, श्री अमृत्ज्योति महंता, और  सुश्री जागृति शर्मा ने अपनी कविताओं से श्रोताओं की तालियां बटोरी।

सभी कवियों को मेडल एवं सर्टिफिकेट देकर सम्मानित किया गया। अंत में सभी का आभार प्रकट करने के पश्चात यह कार्यक्रम संपन्न हुआ।

एशियन लिटरेरी सोसाइटी द्वारा आयोजित महात्मा की 150 वीं जन्मोत्सव समारोह में आये प्रतिभागियों और श्रोतागणों को सत्य और अहिंसा पर आधारित गांधीवादी सिद्धांत पर इन बुद्धिजीवियों एवं कवियों के विचारों से रूबरू होने का अवसर मिला।
