Special Children: A poem by Piya Ghosh
Children of a lesser God
Unique and exceptional;
Though differently abled
But gifted and special.
Burdened by chromosomal disorders,
Devoid of light and lustre;
Cloaked by autism, cerebral palsy,
Erased of smiles and laughter.
Afflicted by physical deformities
And mental illnesses galore;
Swimming against adversities
Armed with a strong inner core.
Endowed with a sixth sense,
Intuitive qualities and talent;
They're powerhouses of energy,
Potential immense and latent.
Their treasure troves are waiting
To be unearthed and discovered;
These buds will certainly blossom
If nourished and nurtured.
