Autumn Leaves: A Poem by Gowri Bhargav

Once again fall is in the air,
Leaves of autumn in myriad shades tethered to the trees
Sway and gyrate with the blowing wind,
They fret not that they are going to wither,
Nor are they worried to get crumbled,
Having lived every moment listening to the songs of nature,
They bid adieu to the trees peacefully,
And rest on the ground,
In layers of golden carpet,
And in absolute quietude
Wrinkle and crumble
To become one with the regenerating earth once again,
Hark! The bare trees don't give up either,
They stand tall, braving the gruesome winter patiently,
Awaiting the jocund spring to bring life once again.
